How To Play Baccarat
Baccarat is one of the simplest card games around. The game revolves around the total 9, which is considered to be a natural win in this game.
There are only 3 total options of betting Baccarat:
- The player will win
- The banker will win
- The game will be a tie
The game proceeds as follows:
- Only two hands will be dealt in the game.
- One hand is the player.
- Another hand is the banker.
- The rest of the players will be just making their bets on who will win.
In the table layout:
- There will be a betting area for banker, player or tie for each player in front of their seats in the table.
- Each of the players will be betting on player, banker, or tie
- There is nothing in terms of strategy here. The players place their bets and the winning decision is based on what cards get dealt.
Card Values in Baccarat:
- Ace is valued 1
- 10, J, K, and Q are taken to be zero
Why is 10, J, K, and Q are taken to be zero?
- 10, J, K, and Q are allotted 10 as a value. In Baccarat only the digit in the second place will be taken for points. In the number 10, in the second place the digit zero is there. So, the value for 10, J, K, and Q is allotted to be zero.
- Even when you are going to total the hand values, the digit in the tenth place are taken to consider the value. If the total is 19, then the hand value is 9, "a natural winner."
The targets for the cards being dealt are to reach a total of 9:
- The banker hand and the player hand will be dealt with two cards.
- The player or the banker who gets the value of 9 in their hand total is the winner.
- In some cases, a total of 9 will be formed with just the first two cards.
- If neither the player nor the banker have 9, a third card is drawn and the totals are compared.
- After the third card draw if there is no 9 total, then the number close to the 9 is taken to be the winner.
- For different variants for baccarat there is a third card rule applicable on whether the dealer or the player can draw the third card.
The rules for third card draw:
- The banker and the player are dealt two cards.
- If player or banker has total 8 or 9, they stand and the one with 9 or nearer to 9 wins.
- If player has a total of 6 or 7 the player will stand.
- If player is going to stand and the banker has 5 or less, then banker draws the third card.
- If the player has 5 or less, the player will draw the third card. Specific drawing rules for banker if the player draws a third card:
- If banker's has totals of 0, 1, 2, then irrespective of the player drawing the banker will draw the third cards.
- Banker can always draw with a hand total of 3. However, when the banker has 3, the banker will draw only if the player's third card has values 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-9-0 and not 8.
- When banker has a total of 4, then the Banker will draw if the player’s third card value has 2-3-4-5-6-7.
- If banker has a total of 5, then banker draws if player had third card total of 4-5-6-7.
- If banker has total of 6, then banker draws if the player has a third card total of 6-7
- If banker has total of 7 then banker stands and does not draw.
- When the last cards are dealt, then the one who has total near to 9 wins.
